We stayed at Tongabezi 30 years ago and I had remembered the magic. This was my place to just relax for 2 days until we headed home. I was not disappointed. This was such a fabulous place to recover from our exciting safari in Zambia. The only activity we did was the pontoon one afternoon. By the time we arrived it was dark, and this was our welcome in our beautiful cottage (Honeymoon House). We had our own butler and we had dinner in our room. The bath was drawn with beautiful rose pedals sprinkled on top and a bottle of champaign already chilled. What a wonderful end to our day.
The next morning were wonderful views of our veranda.
I was perfectly happy sitting on the veranda watching a pod of Hippopotamus directly below our cottage. I also had lots of visits from the Vervet monkeys.
The General Quarter area is filled with places to rest and relax. There is a large pool area. Different buildings with different hang out spots. We actually had our dinner at the Hangout with a beautiful view of the sunset and just the two of us. A Sampan moored just off the boat dock where you can have dinner. We decided with my limited mobility this was probably not a wise option for us.
It was so nice to spend the afternoon on the Zambezi just cruising around. However, it was not pleasant to see two elephant carcasses in the river. Since we saw no tusks, I will leave it to your speculation on what may have happened.
Headed back to the lodge for our sunset dinner and a sad farewell to Africa. We are leaving tomorrow morning. The view of Honeymoon House from the river.

After our flight from Livingston to Johannesburg, we were back on British Airways winging ourselves to Heathrow and then Miami. It was a long flight but worth every single minute. The true trip of a lifetime.
